The phenomenon of drug addiction: Its nature and the factors leading to its spread

Abstract

Egyptian society faces many successive and new crises that make it feel the loss of social security and the lack of clarity of future features, and this is due to the social, economic, political, cultural and ideological changes that the Egyptian society witnessed - and is still - quickly, which made it conform to new and different values ​​that coexist in its framework and separate from it from Collective issues and estranged from his reality and himself, due to his inability to face these changes.

The drug phenomenon is considered one of the most important and most dangerous problems facing both developed societies and developing societies alike. The drug problem is no longer a harmful human phenomenon whose effects are at the limits of individual private life, but rather its impact extended to society as a whole. Therefore, the drug phenomenon has received and is still - great attention. On the part of specialists in the humanities in general and sociology in particular, therefore we urgently need to understand this phenomenon within the framework of global and local culture. There are clear differences and differences between peoples' cultures, especially this differentiation between the culture of the people of the advanced north and the culture of the people of the backward south. The existence of manifestations of similarity between the cultures of each of them separately, because each subculture within each of them has a peculiarity that distinguishes it from others, and what happens in the reality of Egyptian society is inseparable from the capitalist context to the global with its rapid transformations and changes - as is the case with most of the surrounding subordinate societies - Therefore, understanding the dimensions of dealing with the drug phenomenon in Egypt stems from the notion of inequality between the global and local levels, and in light of the above, the study tries to identify the nature of the drug phenomenon. Its development, the factors leading to its spread among the youth, and the implications of the phenomenon of drug addiction among young people.
