The Median Urartian Relations in the eighth century B. C in the Cuneiform Resources

Abstract

This paper reflect an important side of the international relations which the Ancient Near East witness in the beginning of the eighth century B. C. The previous studies as long focus to each kingdom alone, but here I will refer to the external relations in addition to Mesopotamian Cuneiform texts which was left by the Assyrians kings. Also the study relies on the Urartian texts in the absence of the Median texts relate to this era. There is no doubt that both of Median and Urartian kingdoms have a great role in the scene of events in the time of eighth century, they can make a lot of achievements in the political, military and cultural sides.
The paper divided to the three elements, The first one discussed the establish both of Median and Urartian Kingdoms and their origin. The Second related to the political states of the region and the various kingdoms in the beginning of the eighth century B. C. The third element represent the nature of the Median Urartian relation which appear in a most cases in the form of alliance to facing the oppression of the Assyrian empire which was attack the both kingdoms frequently.
