Abstract

Hassan bin Thabet is considered one of the distinctive poets, whose poetry and reputation became popular in the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras. He was classified by Ibn Sallam on top of the Villages poets.
This article deals with a comparative study of the poetry of Hassan bin Thabet in the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras to show the effect of change that had taken place on his poetry after converting to Islam. This is shown in relation to the topics and meanings by demonstrating how his loyalty shifted from the tribe and the individual to religion and creed.
