Abstract

     The study aims at recognizing the effect of the cultural contact between the newcomers and the original in habitants on the social relations in Bahariya Oasis district. It also sheds light on the social relationships like friendship, marriage and neighbourhood and to what extent the cultural contact made a change in The dominant culture. The study depended on the anthropological method and its different tools.
   The study concluded many results:
-     There is a kind of adaptation between the newcomers and the original inhabitants, that both cultures affected each other in different degrees.
-     The similarity between the two cultures and the participation in the local economy made intimate relations in the local economy made intimate relations in friendship ,neighbourhood and marriage which lessened the barriers among the groups.
-     The cultural contact between the newcomers and the original inhabitants led to a change  in the life style of the oasis` people especially in agriculture .
-     Many crimes appeared as a result of this cultural contact like stealing and cattle smuggling also new kinds of commerce.
A conflict in the relation between the two groups is expected to happen because the number of the newcomers from the Nile Valley is increasing also, the rate of the unemployment, in addition to the rising of  the economic pressures . There is also the water problem and the conflict on it because of the rareness of the ground water wells and the dryness of its water which from distant depths . So, the state and the decision makers should intervence and find plans and future programs to solve this problem.
