Research Summary: The two objectives of the research are to identify:
1- Reading tendencies for kindergarten children (introductory stage).
2- Verifying the following zero hypothesis: There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance 0, 05 between the average female grades and the average male grades on the measure of reading tendencies.
The research sample consisted of (100) children males and females (5-6 years old), the introductory stage, the sample was chosen from government kindergartens in Baghdad the side of second Rusafa, by random method. The researcher prepared the measure of reading tendencies which consists of (20) items. The researcher applied by answering the parents of the children about him, to verify the validity of the test, the researcher relied on the logical validity index and the validity of the construction, and to estimate stability, she adopted the Alpha-Cronbach method.
The results showed that kindergartens children have reading tendencies, and the results indicated that there are no statistically significant differences for the gender variable (males - females) on the measure, and the researcher has reached some recommendations and suggestions.
