This research presents atheoritical approach to Discourse and Linguistic pragmatics, the first part deals with the concept of discourse and its tools of analyzing, and also it tries to determine the differences between it and the other concepts that interfere with. The second part deals with the linguistic pragmatics and aims to give aprecise definition to this new theory. Then it tries to determine its meanings, concepts and methods. In addition, the research discusses the roots of linguistic pragmatics in the western studies and Arabic heritage. Finally, the research deals with the modern writings concerned with these new fields.
