Practice of the Governance Mechanisms in Non-governmental organizations to achieve local development in the Kuwaiti Society

The present study aimed at identifying the reality of the practice of governance mechanisms in NGOs to achieve local development in the Kuwaiti society. The results found that the NGOs are practicing governance mechanisms such as transparency in the elections, promoting equality and justice regarding the rights of beneficiaries as well as commitment to good leadership in decision making. The results revealed a statistically significant correlation between the practice of governance mechanisms in NGOs and local development in Kuwaiti society. The most important mechanisms of NGOs governance for the local development of Kuwaiti society were : accountability, transparency, followed by equity, decentralization, justice, and finally accounting). The results also resulted in the level of practicing the governance mechanisms of NGOs to achieve local development in Kuwaiti society. Social development ranked first, In addition to the use of the strategy of persuading leaders within the organization to decentralize the work in order to contribute to the development of the local government. Achieving local development, as well as using the pressure strategy with the competent authorities for the independence of civil work. The results also indicated the most important tools used by NGOs in governance, which help in achieving Local development is the collective discussion within the organization to reduce financial and administrative corruption if any, as well as participation in conferences in the field of governance. The organizations also use social media to discuss societal problems transparently, which helps in achieving local development. The results also indicate that the obstacles that limit the effectiveness of the practice the mechanisms of governance in non-governmental organizations to achieve local development in Kuwaiti society are the legal restrictions imposed by legislation and laws related to NGOs. The most important obstacles are also the requirement of the approval of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to join the organization or its participation in international institutions, as well as the constraints that have occupied the first rank of poor accountability of leaders and officials inside and outside the organization, and on the identification of proposals that support the practice of governance mechanisms in NGOs to achieve local development in the Kuwaiti society The results indicated the need to build the capacity of NGOs to upgrade And taking into account the work of training courses to train the employees of the Organization to practice the mechanisms of governance. The most important proposals are to ensure a clear policy to work in light of the governing law of the civil work.
