Erbil is located between Lower Zab river and Upper Zab river to the east of the Tigris river. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, as its city name can be dated back to ancient Assyrian texts.
The study of Erbil’s Minaret is therefore of paramount significance, as it would shed light on the strategic location of the city and its various touristic and architectural dimensions. The first part of the study would examine the history of the city and its development through the ages, whereas the second part would focus on the field study and the architectural design of the minaret. The research features some graphics and figures to be published for the first time.
