This study examines the most significant features of poetic language in modern love poetry. The study is comprised of two sections, the first of which is focused on the definition of poetic language according to modern and classical critics. The second section is an applied one examining the features of poetic language in modern love poetry. Such features are basically the intertextuality of religions and literary allusions, references to classical Arab figures and the usage of simple lexical items and colloquialisms.
