Anthropology is known for its work in places that seem exotic to Westerners. Yet, anthropologists have long been involved analyzing human behavior in Western industrial and business settings. There is no doubt that the status of anthropology in Egypt in terms of its practical role at different work fields -specially non-academic - is quite different from that in Western countries, especially countries that contributed to establish its scientific schools (German-English-American) as an academic discipline, since the nineteenth century.
This research aims at;
- Uncover benefits of studying anthropology in applied work
- Recognize the importance of human capital in making an active role at work
- Suggest mechanisms to activate the anthropologist role in the labor market.
This study relied on theories such as; role theory, human capital theory, and needs theory. As for the methodology; it based on descriptive and analytical method. The results were based on the field study of the graduates of anthropology at Alexandria University located in Alexandria city. In order to support the depth of the study , the method of case study was applies to thirty cases for their study centrally
The most important results of the present study are:
- The expected patterns of benefit of anthropology graduates – from personal point of view - are endless, but the actual and real benefit has not reached yet the required level, and never satisfy the expectations of the specialization members.
- There are several suggestions to maximize the utilization of anthropology in the field of work.
