Language serves a set of purposes, the first of which is communication, which we call "information," the primary origin of language. Language then evolved along with the development of humankind, leading to the emergence of other purposes, including influence and beauty. Considering these purposes, ambiguity appears to be a matter of interest to scholars. Ambiguity, in its general or specific sense, represents a linguistic behavior that conflicts with these purposes.
This linguistic behavior may be unintentional on the part of the speaker, in which case it is a defect, or intentional on his part, which requires analyzing it and explaining its causes. In both cases, the occurrence of ambiguity in speech is one of the topics that a group of sciences, such as grammar and rhetoric, participate in studying and analyzing.
The interest in the predicative structure and the sentence that leads to ambiguity of meaning is of interest to grammarians, while understanding the purposes of ambiguity and judging it as successful or unsuccessful is of interest to rhetoricians. This research attempts to shed light on ambiguity in rhetorical and grammatical thought through the method of observation and analysis.
