This study deals with a disaster committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian environment in the 1950s, and this disaster is “the drying of the lake Hula”, and itsrepercussion on the Hebrew poetry produced by the Israeli poet “AvotYeshurun”,who participate in the drying od the lake. And this event has a wide resonance in his poetry which reflected in four poems that we analyze in this study. And this study aims to:
Shed a light on one of the Palestinian Nakba’smanifestations which is the Israeli hostile attacks against the Palestinian environment itself, which is the lake of Hula that is one of the most fertile areas in Palestine.
Clarify the environmental damage caused by the drying event.
Reveal the repercussion of this event on the Hebrew poetry through the poems of “AvotYeshurun”.
Reveal the perspective of the poet “AvotYeshurun” of the drying event as a witness of it, even participate in it.
This study is divided into several points as follow:
Introduction: that contains the definition od the lake, and its geographical location in Palestine, and its importance.
First: The Israeli society neglection of the Palestinian environment’sNakba.
Second: the Zionist promotion of the lie of the necessity of the drying.
Third: Criticizing the Israeli authorities, that ignore the warnings about the drying.
Conclusion: that contains the most important results of the study.
