Recently, many claims and allegations have circulated regarding the specific mountain on which God manifested Himself to Moses (peace be upon him). These claims revolve around the fact that the Mount of God's Manifestation was not in Sinai, but rather in other locations.
The fame of the Mount of God's Manifestation stems from the incident of the Manifestation in which God Almighty appeared to Moses (peace be upon him), on this mountain during the dialogue that took place between him and Moses (peace be upon him). When the Prophet of God, Moses, asked his Lord from Mount Moses to see him, as stated in verse 143 of Surat Al-A'raf, in the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: "And when Moses came to Our appointed time, and his Lord spoke to him, he said, 'My Lord, show me [Yourself], that I may look at You.' He said, 'You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in its place, then you will see Me.' So when his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain, He rendered it level, and Moses fell unconscious." The Torah mentions names for several mountains, including Mount Horeb, Mount Sinai, Mount of the Law, and Mount Moses. This study will examine the name and location of each mountain, as well as the events that occurred there.
The study then examines the various theories surrounding the name of the mountain on which the Lord appeared to Moses, peace be upon him, and its location.
To refute these theories, biblical evidence will be used to examine the events that occurred to the Children of Israel on their exodus from Egypt, the stations they stopped at, and the location of the calf.
