The education profession is considered a fundamental pillar in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), launched by the United Nations with the goal of achieving comprehensive and sustainable development by 2030. The education profession plays a pivotal role in developing individuals, groups, and communities, and promoting the values and knowledge necessary to face global challenges. Some of the roles of the teaching profession in achieving the SDGs can be identified as follows:
1- Equitable and inclusive education: Education contributes to quality education for all, which enhances lifelong learning opportunities and helps reduce gender gaps in education.
2- Promoting environmental awareness: Education works to raise awareness of environmental issues and climate change, which contributes to achieving sustainable development.
Among the most important recommendations of the research are:
1. Developing educational curricula: It is necessary to develop educational curricula to include environmental, social, and economic issues.
2. Training teachers: Providing ongoing training programs for teachers to enhance their skills in teaching sustainable development topics.
3. Integrating educational technologies: Using technology in classrooms to promote self-learning and interaction.
Through these efforts, the education profession can play a vital role in advancing sustainable development and achieving its global goals.
The current research is considered descriptive research, which aims to describe the research topic qualitatively and quantitatively to clarify the role of the teaching profession in achieving sustainable development goals.
