The topic of interpretive preferences is one of the topics that provides the researcher with an interpretive faculty and the ability to study linguistic and interpretive opinions. This is what we find in Al-Azhari - may God have mercy on him - in his linguistic dictionary: (Tahdhib Al-Lughah).
In it, he relied on collecting linguistic material from reliable sources, including the Arab tribes with whom he lived, and relying on several methodologies, including the historical tracing of the use of the word, and the comparison between different dialects, in addition to his citing of Qur’anic verses and the pure Prophetic Sunnah. I have mentioned the most prominent interpretive preferences that Al-Azhari mentioned in this book, which are as follows:
What is meant by the Almighty’s saying قُلْ إِنْ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ وَلَدٌ فَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْعَابِدِينَ
: (Surat Az-Zukhruf: Verse: (81).
. The scholars differed regarding who is called “Kalalah” mentioned in Surat An-Nisa, verse (12).
. What is meant by the words of Moses, peace be upon him, when he addressed Pharaoh:
ﭽ وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ﭼ Surat Ash-Shu’ara: from verse (22).
