This research aims to understand the concept of postmodernity and its history, and it reveals its most important aspects and its intersection with modern critical theories such as deconstruction. It also uncovers its terms, its main objectives, and its impact on the world of culture, thought, and art.
Through a thorough reading of Abdul Wahab El Messiri’s thought, a lot of ideas that we have discussed are explored. These ideas include modernity and postmodernity, modernity and the centrality of the human being, the history of postmodernity from El Messiri’s point of view, the terms of postmodernity and what they mean, postmodernity and its impact on the text, the positions of postmodernity from modernity, and El Messiri’s criticisms of postmodernity.
These ideas are presented in the context of a humanistic Islamic project that El Messiri offers as an alternative that transcends Western modernity. This project carries within it a critical vision of the prevailing ideologies, and it relies on humanistic and Islamic rationality that derives its faith-based starting points from the Quran and Sunnah
