The study aimed to monitor the most important causes of youth abuse of social media, and to identify the most important forms of such abuse, and the damages resulting from it. The Researcher relied on the sample social survey method, and used the questionnaire tool to obtain the data, and the researcher conducted a field study on a sample of (700 male and female students) distributed equally among four Saudi universities, namely: Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, King Saud University, Tabuk University, University of Bisha. The study concluded a number of results, the most important of which are: that the most important causes of misuse of social media are determined by the low level of awareness of the danger of misuse and the weakness of religious faith. Negativity, spreading false news and bullying others, and publishing hateful content. As for the damages caused by the misuse of social media, the results were determined by the results in promoting false information, weakening trust in others, threatening the values of society, as well as violating the privacy of others. The study recommended that all governmental and non-governmental organizations work to adopt an educational awareness program aimed at raising the awareness of all members of society of the multiple dangers resulting from the misuse of social media.
