Abstract of the study: This research aims to identify the methods of linguistic softening in the hadiths of the Prophet mentioned in Musnad Al-Rabi’ bin Habib Al-Farahidi, by studying this linguistic phenomenon, from a communicative perspective, following the descriptive approach, based on tracking the hadiths of the Prophet mentioned in Musnad and analyzing the linguistic aspects therein, identifying the softenings of speech, and clarifying their role in influencing the recipient; in a way that contributes to the success of the speech act carried in the given statement. The research showed a number of linguistic methods that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, used to soften his words, remove what might hurt the feelings of the recipient, refine them, and trim them; To be palatable to the addressee, and accept the purpose that the speaker wants to convey to the addressee, the most important of which are represented in the following: mitigation by generalization without specification, introduction before the request, use of the style of the declarative speech act that includes a request verb, the conditional style, the style of representation and example, and the use of gestural, kinetic, and behavioral styles. It is expected that this research will contribute to defining these styles, representing them in our lived reality, and expanding their study and applications within the theory of conversation, the pragmatics of language, and its life uses.
