Pan-Turkism thought according to the Turkish thinker Yusuf Akchura
Beginnings and transformations
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Ottoman Empire witnessed the emergence of features of the nationalist thought trend, and the intellectual trends and trends in it tended either to the idea of the Pan-Ottomanism or Pan-Islamism. The circumstances that the country witnessed in that period provided the necessary ground for developing the idea of religious nationalism among Muslims.
The beginnings of this thought appeared among the Turks living under Russian occupation, and it was transmitted as an ideological system in various ways through immigrants to the Ottoman lands. Akchura was one of the contributors to this intellectual movement and was one of the first to frame Pan-Turkism thought at the end of the Ottoman Empire. This was clearly demonstrated in many of his works and articles, the most important of which in this regard was his book “The Founder "Three Styles in Politics".
With the declaration of the Republic, there was a change in Akchura’s convictions and he became supportive of all the decisions taken by Mustafa Kemal.
In this study, we will attempt to introduce the features of the idea of Pan-Turkism thought according to Akchura by looking at his most important and founding book "Three Patterns in Politics" and monitoring the changes that occurred in that thought after the founding of the Turkish Republic, and the accompanying transformations witnessed in that period, whether on the intellectual, political or political or Social level..
