This study aims to critically examine an important document that we found within (NamaHumayun Notebook No. 9-110), which is kept in the archives of the Prime Minister’s Office in Istanbul. This document is actually a Humayunian letter within the bilateral correspondence between Sultan Abdul Hamid I (1187-1203 AH / 1774-1789 AD) and the ruler of Oman, Imam Ahmed bin Said (1157-1197 AH / 1744-1783 AD). The letter addresses the serious situation resulting from the Iranian occupation of the city of Basra, which lasted for three years, and the ways of coordinating between Oman and the Ottoman Empire on the eve of the Iranian withdrawal from Basra following the death of Karim Khan Al-Zind, and the subsequent internal conflict over power.
