Abdul Qadir bin Omar Al-Baghdadi is considered one of the most prominent figures of the language in the eleventh century AH, as he was known in the field of writing and indexing, and his book “The Treasury of Literature and Lub Lubab Lisan Al-Arab” has been the subject of attention of researchers since its writing until the present time.
The study aims to clarify a clear picture of Al-Baghdadi’s approach in presenting the grammatical evidence in the book The Treasury of Literature, according to the descriptive and analytical approach, in terms of his approach in tracing the evidence and graduating the verses of Sharh al-Radi, examining their authors, and attributing each verse to its speaker, as much as he is able to do so, and attributing it to his tribe or Its type, distinguishing the Islamic witness from the pre-Islamic one, and the Companion from the Tabi’i, clarifying its ambiguity, parsing it, and directing it grammatically.
The researcher found that Al-Baghdadi demonstrated, during his explanation, his extensive knowledge of prosody, through proper control of the poetry, his alertness to some issues during his explanation, and his commitment to documenting the evidence in the text of his writing. This is a modern scientific approach followed in many studies, and Al-Baghdadi may quote more than one narration. Consequently, he cites more than one poetic stanza, and is keen to translate the grammatical poets of the verses. He may apologize when he is unable to translate to the author of the witness, and he may translate to one of the contemporaries of the author of the witness if he cannot find a translation by the poet himself.
