The study focuses on the semiotic signs and narrative techniques that distinguishes Abdul Qader Al-Rubai’s experience and set it apart from other experiences in his autobiographical narratives.
The semiotic signs, that accompanied the author’s biography are limited to many signs (thresholds), which are: cover page, author’s name, color, pictures, title, dedication, love, loss, death, memories, days... etc.; as well as techniques; represented in the temporal paradoxes: retrieval, anticipation, and the rhythm of the narration/time in terms of slowness and speed: the conclusion, omission, scene and pause. These signs and techniques are important in the study of the narrative text, which has become an urgent necessity for every critical narrative research; through which he touched upon in the structure of his autobiography by discovering the rich and confusing relationship between self and reality, between the world of the inside and the world of the outside.
The text was read in depth, tracing the technical foundations of the signs and techniques in the various aspects of the biography in order to answer the important research questions that were confined to tracing the impact of these artistic foundations and their employment by the writer via using the narrative method, which is appropriate in the manifestation of narrative signs and techniques and their positioning in the author's achievement.
We sought accuracy and brevity - based on the conditions of the publication vessel - and keenness to present a convincing vision of the research topic, and to make the idea close to the honorable reader.
