This research seeks to explain the dialectic relationship between freedom and responsibility. The objective is to unveil the nature of the constant debate between the western and Islamic thoughts regarding the connection between the two concepts and the limits thereof. It shall also study the effect of such difference in the conception of the relationship on the rising trends that disrespect the societies and sacred places such as blasphemy and incitement. Religious violence as a reaction could be deployed in an extreme manner that will harm all parties. To achieve the objective of this paper, descriptive, inferential, and analytical method is used because it is more appropriate for the topic of the research. Findings of the research include: the refusal of the west to condemn the contempt for the religions is largely due to creedal factors and has nothing to do with freedom of expression and thought as being claimed; blasphemy and incitement will remain unaddressed because of the lack of legal will to address the ugly trend and censor the abuse of freedom; the most important factor responsible for the religious are blasphemy and propaganda which western media ferociously carry out on daily basis against Muslims using as a legal cover the silence of the international community and the principle of right to expression; and as a religion, Islam has succeeded through its legal and moral systems, to strike a balance between freedom and responsibility. This explains why, since fifteen centuries ago, its legal system remains consistent and firm in the face of changes. It has also been effective in achieving peace and security globally. In addition, it has been able to regulate the behaviors of the Muslims in such a way that fosters co-existence, protects their religious and social peculiarities and without exposing what is sacred to them to propaganda and blasphemy.
