This research deals with the methods of calling in the dialects of southern Jordan, which include four governorates: Aqaba, Ma'an, Tafila and Karak, by studying the practical use patterns by the speakers of these dialects, and comparing them with the eloquent use provided in the works of the ancient literature, to reach to the conclusion that these dialects are in fact can be traced back to the ancient calling styles used in Classical Arabic.
The research was divided into three sections: the first dealt with the concept of the calling styles in Standard Arabic, while the second part deals with the manifestations of the dialects of southern Jordan and words used to call someone, the second section discusses the manifestations of the dialects of southern Jordan and the calling styles and the roots of such styles by showing the eloquent use of these method.
the most important results of the study is that the dialects of southern Jordan are characterized by a number of phonetic features that stemmed from Standard Arabic, and they also took some advanced usage aspects from the Standard use to reach different meanings in the calling styles, such as the calling of the near and far addressee, expressing heartbreaking and grief, and expressing grumbling and heaviness.
