The human self which is the place of secrets is attracted to a series of contradictions, among these contradictions is the feeling of man both of pleasure and pain simultaneously. Man should avoid pain and seek pleasure. But each one has a way of going through that way.
The study consists of a Preface that reveals the dichotomy of pleasure and pain in the linguistic lexicon, and in the terminology of some philosophers and psychologists. Then gradually we tackled the pain of losing youth and then pain of death. In the pleasure we tackled the real pleasure of being near God Almighty and winning His approval and heaven. Therefore, pleasure could only be gained when God pardons for man.
The most important finding of the study is that the dichotomy was in two contradictory parts. Everything has a contradictory parallel such as pain and pleasure. Pleasure has taken different dimensions for psychologists and philosophers. Al-Alberyhas elegize himself a lot for losing youth which he saw as an omen to his doom.
In the pain for death Al-Albery noted that life is only transient and the believer must get rid of it and be prepared for the afterlife in which there is bliss. In pleasure, Al-Alberystated that pleasure is the proximity to God and the wining of his approval in the Day of Judgement. It is attributed to his religious tendency and asceticism.
