A research from the doctoral thesis:

This research deals with the role of Iraqi satellite channels in covering the crisis of the separation referendum of Kurdistan region and its reflection on the national identity to the Iraqi citizens.
The question of the research is summarized by the following question: What is the role of Iraqi satellite channels in covering the crisis of the referendum of separation of Kurdistan region and its reflection on the national identity?
the research goals are the following:
1- Identify the Iraqi satellite channels in covering the crisis of the referendum of the Kurdistan region and its reflection on the national identity.
This research is of descriptive type, also using of analytical survey method.
In the first stage, the researcher selected a target sample from the city of Baghdad and Erbil with (600) respondents distributed (300) form for each city. Then the researcher in the second stage chose the multi-stage cluster sample in the distribution of the questionnaire in the simple random sample by lot, to those who are exposed to the referendum crisis on Iraqi satellite channels.
Finally the results are as the following:
1- The results of the exposure show the preference of the city of Baghdad to the following TV. channels (Iraqia, alsharqiya, Sumeria) in the first ranks in the follow-up to the crisis of the referendum of the separation of the Kurdistan region as these channels possess the advantage of the favorites on other channels, while the preferred audience of the city of Erbil channels (Rudaw TV, Kurdistan 24, and the channel of Kurdistan TV) ranks first in the follow-up crisis of the referendum in the Kurdistan region.
2- Emphasize that the intensive coverage of the referendum in the Kurdistan region in Iraqi satellite channel has negatively affected the national identity of the public, depending on the nature of this news coverage, which reflects the factors of ownership and political ideology of each channel, which requires reconsideration of its tools in the news.
