This study is concerned with Bani Juhair and their political role in the Abbasid Era (454 – 542AH | 1062-1147AG) where their post in the Ministry extended for a century held the post of ministers for five Caliphs – the first Caliph was Al-Qa’eim Be Amrellah, then Al Muqtadi Be Amrellah, Al-Mostazher Bellah, Al-Rashed Bellah, and eventually Al-Muqtafi Lellah. A number of members of the Banu Jahir family were appointed to ministry. Their long tenure in holding the position of the ministry is indicative of their great position and high sovereignty, which led to a high favor among the successors of Bani Al-Abbas. They obtained many titles and gifts in exchange for their loyalty to the state. They also occupied the position of professor of the house, as the Caliphs did not dispense with them even if they lost the ministry and be replaced with others in any period of time.
The study has also tacked a historic period where the Ministry confronted several challenges and ambitions – not to mention the weakness that lasted for an approximately two centuries. When the Abbasid Caliphate got rid of the dominance of those with greed and aspiration, the Ministry had managed to boost, recover and exercise its influence. Therefore, the family of Bani Juhair had played a significant role in the Ministry as their role had not been confined to the Ministry, but also extended to the Seljuk Military Leaders, who employed them to conquer and take over the Abbasid cities.
