The relationship between the two Persian cities, Qum and Kashan, was a close one, on the political, religious, economic and social levels; since the two cities belong to the mountains region, located near Isfahan, and were influenced to some extent by many of the political facts that took place in them, not only because of their proximity to this important state, but also because they were administratively subordinate to it for a long period of time, starting from their Islamic conquest until the era of the Abbasid Caliph Harun Al Rasheed. Even after they separated administratively from the province of Isfahan, the bonding between them increased and their relations were more firmly established than before, following the transfer of the subordination of Kashan to the state of Qum.
This study aims to shed light on the aspects of the historical relationship between Qum and Kashan in the early Islamic centuries, politically, administratively, economically, socially and religiously.
