This study is an attempt to identify the form of black theater in the field of British theater since its inception to the end of the twentieth century. The researcher traces strategies followed by the most famous black playwrights in Britain to express their identity and their experiences in multi-cultural Britain. The study is undertaken within the framework of the socio-critical theory proposed by the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu.
The study reveals eventually that black theater falls short of securing a foothold within British theater as a result of lack of theater works in that period. Moreover, confirming the binaries and the poles opposing black and white, Black theatre reflects the lack of awareness of producers with requirements of multiculturalism adopted by Britain, which calls for a multi-ethnic representation.
