This study aimed to identify the characteristics of the news coverage of terrorist attacks in Egypt on the Egyptian online newspapers websites in scope of this study (Al-Ahram and El Masry El Yom. The study relied on two essential approaches which are, survey method and comparative method. The study applied a content analysis of 1934 news about terrorist attacks in Egypt in the two websites (Al-Ahram and El Masry El Yom) during the first year of Al-Sisi presidency.
Main results
1- The conflict frame was the first most common frame in both newspapers websites coverage of terrorist attacks in Egypt.
2- Security and military sources ranked the first in the list of sources of information relied on by the newspapers websites in their coverage of terrorist attacks in Egypt.
3- The blasts came in the top of the terrorist operations that took place in the governorates of Egypt. On the other hand, most of the terrorist attacks presented in the news analysis targeted killing of Egyptian soldiers and policemen.
