Common law marriage of underaged females and the absence of social criteria field study in an Egyptian village.
The study attempts to identify the reason behind common law marriage of underaged females in the Egyptian village, and the role of the absence of social criteria as a means to fulfill it. It tries also to explore the consequences and the risks of such a marriage. The study uses a descriptive method. It investigates the cases of twenty-five underaged females, beside ten cases of their pater families as the tool of the study. The study relies on some theoretical entries: Anomi, globalization and Albert Cohen's Delinquent sub-culture.
The study concludes that the reasons behind common law marriage of underaged females are: spinster hood fear, family mistreatment and education hatered .It also pinpoints that this marriage follows all the procedures of formal marriage except documentation. Thus, this marriage emerges a midst absence of social criteria where they created a delinquent sub-culture contradicting the whole culture of the society.
