This paper aims to delineate the parameters and the criteria of which Al-Khalil bin Ahmad availed himself in his Al-Ayn Lexicon in weighing up the pros and cons to the usage of lexemes, in determining their correctness or faultiness, or in ascertaining to which extent they may adhere to Standard Arabic. In this descriptive study that the researcher has conducted, these parameters have been divided into six parts: Firstly: the lexeme having been passed down from one Arab generation to the next (verbal or written), Secondly: conformance of the entry (lexeme) to the rules of the Arabic language, Thirdly: analogy, Fourthly: endorsement, Fifthly: steady use, and Sixthly: unambiguity. Within these six parts, a number of sub-parts too can be examined. Besides unravelling these criteria, the researcher deduced a number of results, the most salient of which is that Al-Khalil evidently adopted a scientific method in determining whether to incorporate any given lexical item in his Lexicon or to reject it. It was also found out in the course of the present study that Ibn Jani benefited prodigiously in his book Al-Khasa’is from Al-Khalil, so much so that in sundry topics in his book it was crystal-clear that Ibn Jani was replicating Al-Khalil’s methodology in his Al-Ayn. An example of this is Al-Khalil’s usage of some parameters and terminologies that are current in Fiqh and its jurisprudence, such as analogy and endorsement, which he revamps somehow in order to make them suited to the linguistic arena. This revelation may be regarded as yet one more piece of evidence to be added to the piles of evidence of the sturdy tie between the Shari’a sciences and the linguistic. In other words, the pursuit of delineating the Arabic language ultimately serves the religion of Islam.

The great Arabic language poet Abu Tayeb Ahmed son of Al Hussein son of Al Hassan son of Abdel Samad, the greatest Arab poets undisputedly, and he is the most one of them that was a master of and able to recruit language of the Arabs. He was known for his extreme ambition and pride, and a large part of his poetry revolves in the orbit of wisdom and self-esteem. Al Mutanabbi's poems were mixed with virtues and vices as he mentioned many of the virtues of princes and kings such as the courage and bravery in wars, the preservation of the dignity, generosity and self-glory as they awarded him grants and gifts, and suddenly he started to satirize them, mentioning their vices and describing them as they are in real life alongside with qualities they are not attributed them when they stop granting him donations and gifts. We found him satirizes Kamphor who has been already praised by him through a poem when he left Egypt as he went there in year "three hundred and forty six" to praise Kamphor Al Ikhchidi, who promised him to undertake some of his works, and when he found out that the poet was overreacting in his poetry and he is so arrogant, Al Ikhchidi was afraid of him, and many persons admonishes him for letting that poet be close to him, He said: O my people who claimed prophethood after Muhammad (r) he may claims the reign of Kingdom with Kamphor? So stay away from him. So, if Kaphor was satisfied with the poet Al Mutanabi, he would promise him with an emirate as he hoped of reign of political emirate such as the Emirate of Saif Al Dawla in the Levant in order to have a council like him in which the poets and writers are meeting together, to praise him and compete him through poetry in order to gain something of his pride that was wounded in the Council of State of Saif Al Dawla in the Levant. On the night of Eid Al-Adha festival, he left Egypt heading to Persia to praise Adud Al Dawla son of Boya Al Daiyli. This the target of study as it aimes to identify the virtue and vice in the poetry of the great Arab poet Abu Al Mutanabbi and the study will obviously tackle the personality of Al Mutanabbi and his personal circumstances of which undoubtedly influenced his qualities and features which reflected on his poetry, and this had an impact on his viewpoints towards the surrounding things, and in his attitude towards the virtue and vice.

This study discusses the reasons of Syntactic Idioms' Accounting through a group of syntactic idioms, in regards of seeing its attribution, variation, and accounting. The syntactic idiom is still need to be revised although it had specialized studies. We cannot deny the efforts of those who conducted these studies and their following to its various sources. However, the previous studies feed this research. The study concluded that attributing some syntactic idioms to a specific ideology is an issue that should be reviewed. And its separation was forced, resulted from intolerance, and desire of disagreement. The accounting of idioms for the same concept is due to its long journey, the variation of syntactic thought and grammarians' ideologies. In addition to the desire of disagreement between grammarians.

Time is one of the most branched and complicated linguistic issues. It is branched in the language beginning from morphemes including syntax ending with the meaning or denotation. This means that studying the tense shall be based on the behavior of the tense in structures and formations. Hence, it came to my mind this title for my research, "Grammatical tense between Persian and Arabic to be applied to Midaq alley novel by Naguib Mahfouz and its translation into Persian." Choosing this topic returns to various reasons and the most important of them are as follows: -The importance of grammatical tense and its role in knowing the context of in which these events occur.-To clarify the extent at which the connections and addenda combine in determining the grammatical tense. -To clarify the extent of the Persian and Arabic languages' ability to embody the accurate time differences through using the morphology formulae in different contexts. The research is seeking to recognize the grammatical tense concept and how to express it in Persian and Arabic. It also attempts to treat this tense scientifically through the supporting evidences and examples. It seeks to determine the semantic equivalent of the grammatical tense through Midaq alley novel by Naguib Mahfouz and its translation into Persian. In addition to recognizing the tense system between Arabic and Persian and highlighting the aspects of agreement and differences between them. The research follows the contrastive approach or contrastive study that attempting to study the contrasting between two languages or more, two dialects or more or between a language and a dialect; between two levels of contemporary languages aiming at giving proof of the differences between the two levels. Basically, this is based on the descriptive approach or descriptive linguistics. The research reached various results including that Arabic expresses the tense accurately by using meanings and presumptions in the language referring to the opposite of what was common concerning that Arabic needs to determine the tense. In Arabic tense is not related to wording, whereas in Persian, it is related to it. This is different form the meaning of the grammatical tense related to context. In addition to various results included in the conclusion.

This is a revised chapter of M. A. theses entitled Form and Function of the Imperative in Surat Al Baqarah: A Comparative Study of Two Translations. The two translations are Arthur J. Arberry’s The Holy Qur'an and English Translation of the Meanings. Reprinted (2005), and M. M. Ghali’s Towards Understanding the Ever Glorious Qur'an (2008). The paper applied the two theories: Halliday’s Thematic Information Structure and Mona Baker’s Thematic Structure, in order to investigate who of the two translators is more competent in rendering predicative imperative throughout the surah. The paper includes some forms and functions ofpredicative imperative, in which they exceed the six forms of imperative in English language presented by J. L. Austin and elaborated by J. Searle within the speech acts theory, and the four forms of imperative in Arabic language. The paper surveyed an introduction, objectives of the study, definition of imperative forms, sources of data, the research questions, review of literature, significance of the study, features and perspectives of the two translators, theoretical framework, the application part,Ghali vs. Arberry in syntactic and semantic analysis, conclusion and finally the consolidating references.

The aim of this paper is to delineate misogyny, violence and war against women in Africa. Whilst staging misogyny and elaborating a gender discourse of war in their theatres, African women playwrights give attention to the cultural, material and economic conditions that ferment injustices experienced by both women and men in a range of circumstances. The paper also examines how African women playwrights emerge triumphant despite the atrocities by inviting all human beings to participate in their dilemmas of fear and violence through a humane critical lens and an empathy that allows the acceptance of otherness and the transformation of women’s victimization into a human condition of brutality. Thence, hope arises in the future of a unified horizon of understanding and agency for the rights of all. Danai Gurira’s Eclipsed (2010) gives an account of political factions fighting for power in Liberia. The play elucidates how sex and servitude are exchanged for survival in a performance that draws attention to the victimization of women. Violence against women becomes a strategy for the masculine practices of governmental and non-governmental militias. Lara Foot-Newton’s Tsephang: The Third Testament (2003) is based on the actual 2001 rape of a nine month old baby, Sisie, by her Mother’s lover. The playwright highlights the fact that the socio-psychic consequences of years of social economic and political oppression have left people without agency, seeking oblivion in wine, sex, sleep or death. Both men and women have been brutalized by the socio-economic conditions of apartheid. In her essay, “Women and War”, Alexis Greene draws attention to the rise of a generation of women playwrights who “deconstruct the concept of war time heroism, draw a connection between violence in battle and violence in the home, and further investigate the age-old connection between war and sex”. Africana Womanist theory, Queer theory and post-colonial theory are applied to demonstrate Africana sisterhood, to deconstruct femaleness and maleness and to sabotage a post-colonial agenda of marginalized agency and lack of freedom of choice for Africana people. Indeed, both Danai Gurira from Zimbabwe and Lara Foot-Newton from South Africa address the social and political status of African women, experiencing violence and witnessing brutality, in order to revise a canonized narrative of war that excels heroism and naturalizes war’s horror. Both playwrights document the local to touch on the global. Both playwrights raise hope by inviting the full humanity of each and every human soul on earth to recognize others as human too, despite previous inhuman experiences.
