This study shows the meaning of situationcontext and provesthat it is an essential element in judgments by whichSibawayhdescribed statements and phrases contained in the book "Boghiat Al Taq'eed". Many of these judgments such as the right and the wrong, the good and the bad, and acceptance and rejection come along after addressing the attitude that contains the speech. In addition to addressing the way by which the ancient scholars addressed the context of the situation under the conceptof the situationand how they preceded the modernizers, this study also demonstrates the impact of the situation context in different levels of language informula, lexeme, synthesis and indication. Basically, the research aims to demonstrate the impact of the context of the situation, through Sibawayh's efforts in the analysis of the structures of micro text (formula, lexeme, synthesis and indication) upon the belief of the researcher that the best analysis of any text but is in the light of the situation or situations that contain the text. The research also aims to confirm the need to experience the situation which contains the linguistic rule that describes the speech, and that the learners cannot understand the grammatical rules without experiencing the situations and circumstances of these rules

The research shows and presents the most important and key features that characterized the Ottoman State since its inception in 1299 AD / 699 AH, until the early beginning of the eighteenth century, as well as review the reasons and factors of weakness that has surrounded the state and contributed in its delay and stumble. Then the research summarizes a number of reformist ideas that tried to offer some solutions to the problems that were facing the Ottoman Empire in order to work on the restoration of its recovery again. The research depended on a historical approach through the exploration of events and the awareness of the different Turkish, English and Arabic sources and references. The most important and key features of the Ottoman Empire were: - Commitment to Islamic law in the management of state affairs. - Shura Consultation with religious scholars and statesmen. - Taking care of the Clergy and put them in their deserving place. - Jihad for the sake of Allah, and taking care of soldiers. The most important causes of vulnerability divided into internal and external reasons. The reasons of vulnerabilityvaried between the corruption of the central administration in the state, and the lack of political experience among some of the sultans, in addition to the poor conditions of the Ottoman army and navy, and the deterioration of the financial situation and economic conditions in general. The repeated defeats, which the State suffered from, were also the powerful factors that imposed and caused a falling situation to the state between the surrounding countries. Then began the attempts of reform through the tries of some of the intellectuals and Ottoman's statesmen; among them were "Lotfy Pasha", Hassan Kafi Al Aqahsari", and "Quggi Bey." They wrote their reformist thought and submitted it to the sultans to contribute in offering solution of the reasons for the falling of the State. The research is trying to contribute in the monitoring of the important historical period of the age of the Ottoman Empire, in which its impact was not limited to the Ottoman State, but also to the whole world.

The research deals with the study of the “Adjective” in the Syriac language, and extracting the Morphological and grammatical functions that controls its usage, this is done through the terminology and definitions of the “Adjective” mentioned within the folds of different Syriac studies. The first part of the research aims at handling the very limits of the adjective, both linguistically & idiomatically, same way Syriac Grammarians used to work with, and on the lead of the outcomes we concluded, was that the Syriac language includes two types of adjectives: the nominal adjective, and the verbal adjective. The second part of the research handles the study of the morphological functions for the derivatives that hold the meaning of the adjective. This chapter has also included five sections that contain the study for the morphological functions for the: present participles, past participle, resemble adjective, hyperbolical form, comparison of adjective. As for the third part – titled “Grammatical functions of the adjective” – its importance lies in displaying the grammatical functions for the verbal adjective that acts in place of the verb inside both the Predicative & attributive compounds, which expresses for the predicate, epithet, or the adverb of quality. As for the grammatical function of the nominal adjective, they are functions within the content of the phrase; as they are included either as subject, object or genitive.

This study was conducted to explore the nature and the patterns of fluctuations in the beginning and end of the rainy seasons in Jordan. The study also aimed at determining if there was any real offset of the early rainy period which had normally extended over the months of October and November, as well as the late rainy period, which had normally lasted till May. Besides, the study aimed at exploring possible overall spatial climatic causes that may be lurking behind the offset of the typical annual dates for the beginning and end of rainfall periods, as this type of information is of significant importance to most economic activities, particularly the agricultural sector. To achieve the aims of this study, the researchers analyzed quantities of the monthly rainfall collected at the metrological station at Amman Civil Airport over the period from 1922 to 2007, since this station is the oldest weather station in Jordan. It Covers eighty-five years, and it is centrally located among the various geographical regions of the Kingdom. To explore the patterns that were expected to emerge from the data, rain quantities were collected throughout the month of October using the Step wise regression procedure, as this month represents the beginning of the early rainy season. Furthermore, a similar statistical analysis was performed for the quantities of the rain collected in May as it represents the end of the late rainy season. The results of the study indicate that there were three patterns in the early rainy period which had witnessed a decrease in the rainfall, while there were three patterns in the late rainy period which had witnessed an increase in the rainfall. Key Words: The Rainy Season, Step-wise Regression, Seasonal Offset, Rain-fall patterns, area of High Pressure

The research clarifies the sorts of the metal banners unlike that of textile. This type widely spread in some of the Moslem states through a specific period and still used until nowadays. The research also explores that some of those banners preserved in the international museums and the private collections also inside the auctions. Noticeably, most of them are related to Iran and India, and mostly dated to 10th AH/16th AD, and 13th AH/19th AD centuries. Unfortunately this groups has no a separate study and analysis despite its importance as a unique example of Moslem banners. On the other hand, it gained an importance especially in the usage of iron, and steel alloys, in addition to the decorative techniques employed such as piercing, and open work. Not only copper and bronze were used, but other metals were involved. This group also gained an importance due to its great connection to the twelver shia doctrine, however, its carried some cultural, ideological, and doctrinal significance, in addition to its consideration as a device used in ancient times and reused in the Islamic ages. This research paper aims to study the some of those metal banners exploring their forms, origins, decorative and fabrication techniques, in addition to their characteristics, functions, history, inscriptions and the reason of decorating them.

present study explores the cognitive basis of the Theme/Rheme structure in text and its potential for applicability at the macro level of discourse analysis. Towards this end, the study follows a synergetic methodology of systemic functional linguistics and social cognition, whereby the terms Theme and perspective are conflated under the concept of thematic perspectivization and the terms Rheme and schema under the concept of meta-schematic information. The current methodology proposes a systematic correlation between the elements of perspectivizer, perspectivizee, and perspectivized, on the one hand, and self-schema, person schema, and role schema, on the other. The latter types of schema have been demonstrated to be linguistically explicit in the New information falling within the Rheme structure in text. The data used for analysis is Richard Dawkins’ (2006) polemical book The God Delusion, which typically represents a science-oriented type of atheistic discourse. The study has reached two findings. First, thematic perspectivization and meta-schematic information are fully-fledged discursive practices as their analysis demonstrates both the micro level of Theme/Rheme analysis and the macro level of schema analysis. Second, the systemic functional model of linguistic co-textual analysis can be augmented by incorporating the social-cognition model of contextual analysis. Keywords: Meta-schematic information; perspective; Rheme; schema; scientific atheism; social cognition; systemic functional linguistics; thematic perspectivization; Theme

Sociolinguistic research suggests that women use more politeness strategies in their requests than men do. Holmes (1995) characterizes women’s speech as being more polite than men’s . Researchers report that women use more positive politeness markers such as compliments, joking and claiming reciprocity than men do. Women use a large number of positive-politeness strategies in talking with same-sexpeers while men do not in similar situations. Women are more likely to apologize to soften criticism and to thank others than men. However, most studies of gender variations in politeness have missed the relationship between language use and a situation a woman or man is in. In this research paper, the results of the data collected from women and men students who have taken the test indicate almost different results .The results show that women students use more positive politeness markers such as “compliments” than men do. The results show that men and women are almost similar in joking and claiming reciprocity. As for the other claim that women use more negative politeness markers than men in their requests, the results also show that men and women are completely similar in using negative politeness markers such as “asking for an excuse” and are completely similar but partially different in saying “thank you” and in “apologizing”.

Researchers that focus on the relationship between mythology, fairytales, and human psyche have been limited. Although theorists such as Jung, mythologist Joseph Campbell, and Jungian analysts James Hollis and Marie Louise von Franz contributed important theories about the importance of these archetypal stories to the field of psychology, this topic remains understudied. My study therefore focuses on how the use of mythology and fairytales helps one connect with one’s deeper Self. This study is used to analyze Hans Christian Andersen’s (1872-1974) fairytale The Little Mermaid. The story describes the process of individual psychological development in a metaphorical language that is accessible to many people and as well as contributive to their unique human life journeys. As a story of redemption, the little mermaid lost an essential part of her Self, the feminine principle, which she had to regain in order to attain an immortal soul. Psychologically speaking, she underwent a life-death-rebirth cycle that allowed her path toward individuation. The little mermaid had to sacrifice herself to the totality of the Self, which included both consciousness and the unconscious. This integration of consciousness and the unconscious allowed her to resume her spiritual path toward Selfhood. Therefore The Little Mermaid offers people guidance in their lives.

This work is an attempt to show the impact forces of modern media and their manipulation by influential groups and big powers to achieve specific goals particularly in developing societies. It argues analytically that modern media harnessed recent advances in technology and other relative disciplines to fabricate events and realities to persuade average individual and\or groups and defeat the opponents of the media’s owners and\or controllers. It goes on to argue that it has become more persuasive than informative. It claims that peoples of industrial societies are much more aware of the impacts than their counterparts in agricultural ones of the third world for one obvious reason that the latter still suffer from the consequences of the colonial era. Therefore impacted parties, be they states or groups, have started awareness campaigns by holding various activities to counter the media action and behavior.

The aim of this paper is to explain the theory of self-reflexivity in some of the early poems of the American poet, Anne Sexton (1928-1974). Self-reflexivity and narcissistic narrative were identified and the role of the mirror stage/image was highlighted based on in the French theorist Jacques Lacan’s “The Mirror Stage as Formative of the I as Revealed in Psychoanalytic Experience” (1949) and Linda Hutcheon’s Narcissist Narrative: The Metafictional Paradox (1980). Focus was on Sexton’s poems “The Double Image” (1958), “For John, Who Begs Me Not to Enquire Further” (1959) and “An Obsessive Combination of Ontological Inscape, Trickery and Love” (1958) illustrating the role played by the mirror and reflective surfaces in identifying the self in relation to the other. Moreover, interaction between composing the poem and reading it and the textual nature of this narcissism were highlighted. It became evident that through her reflexive poetry, Sexton emphasized the relationship between the subject and the object world and that the self and the role of the reader/other in determining the meaning of the narcissistic text. Thus, Sexton’s poetry is self-reflexive and auto-representational. It also reflects the mimetic and expressive theories of art as it is concerned with both the inside (self) and the outside (reade( . Key wordsconfessional poetry – mirror image – self-consciousness – self-reflexivity – textual narcissism

Yan Martel’s novel, Life of Pi, was published in 2001 and instantly became a smashing hit. The novel records the marvelous journey of Pi Patel, an Indian teenager who is stranded in the middle of the ocean with a hyena, a zebra, an orang-utan and a Bengali tiger by the name of Richard Parker. In his creation of such an incredible story, Martel resorts to a complicated meta-fictional frame narrative that induces his readers to suspend their disbelief, in order to savour the mind’s magical ability to deal with the most odd circumstances. This paper seeks to explore how Martel’s Life of Pi transcends the conventional castaway story, as it urges the reader to re-vision human-animal relations away from the dominant anthropomorphic perspective. The novel highlights the power of story telling to create a sense of the magical that challenges any conclusive perspective. Through its use of magical realism, Life of Pi becomes more than just an adventure story, since it addresses some of the most complex and meaningful issues. Through his inversion of the traditional animal-human relationships, Martel’s Life of Pi has ingeniously refuted the binary divisions between animal and human, civilization and wildness, rational and mysterious. The reader shares a partnership with the postmodernist writer in trying to figure out the meaning of the text; magic realism invites the reader to be creative like the author, and to think about issues on different planes.
